Las alternativas sugeridas hacen cosas diferentes a las de GitBook. GitBook es una herramienta en la que puede crear preguntas frecuentes, manuales, KB y administrar la documentación de un software de manera colaborativa. No es exactamente un libro para poner en el estante en la descarga de un kindle, sino un sitio de documentación en vivo y en línea. Todas las alternativas enumeradas estaban más relacionadas con la creación y publicación de libros.

Como se indicó, GitBook es ideal para crear libros, ya que no requieren ningún formato especial, inclusión de texto / código y reticulación. Pero cuando se trata de crear documentación (donde mucha gente piensa que GitBook es bueno), GitBook falla. Lo he estado utilizando durante más de un año como herramienta de documentación y es una experiencia terrible. Nuestra documentación se crea en Markdown y cuanto más crece, más me quedo con las numerosas limitaciones de GitBook. Incluso crear un enlace a un documento o una página que debe estar ubicado fuera del Resumen es un verdadero dolor de cabeza. Junto con Markdown, GitBook admite AsciiDoc, que se espera sea un solucionador de problemas. Sin embargo, en GitBook, AsciiDoc tiene una funcionalidad extremadamente truncada.
