Apache Geronimo is an open-source application server developed by the Apache Software Foundation. It is designed to provide a robust, and secure platform for developing, deploying, and running Java applications, web applications, and web services. It provides an implementation of the Java EE platform, including Enterprise JavaBeans, JavaServer Pages (JSP), Java Servlet, Java Message Service (JMS), and Java Naming and Directory Interface (JNDI). It also offers a range of services for managing application servers, as well as tools for building and deploying applications. Apache Geronimo is designed to be lightweight and highly scalable, and provides support for a variety of databases, web servers, and application servers. Additionally, it provides integration with other Apache projects such as Tomcat, Apache Web Server, Apache Axis, and Apache CXF.

Llevo dos servidores de aplicaciones Java EE 5 conmigo en una memoria USB. Uno de ellos es Geronimo, el otro es JOnAS. Ambas se procesan fácilmente como aplicaciones "portátiles" (JOnAS es un poco más difícil de configurar de forma segura). Ambos están bien documentados. Ambos son notablemente estables. JOnAS se ve mejor y tiene mejores instalaciones para hosts virtuales. Geronimo es más fácil de instalar y tiene un soporte más amplio.
