A DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) Server is a computer application or device that allows devices on a network to be automatically assigned an IP address and other network configuration settings such as the default gateway, DNS servers and other important settings. The DHCP server provides a way for computers and other network devices to quickly and easily obtain the settings they need in order to be able to communicate on the network. Free DHCP Server is an open-source DHCP server software package that allows users to easily set up and manage an IP address pool, assign IP addresses to clients, configure subnets, and manage network settings. It includes a web-based GUI and a command-line interface that allows users to customize their own DHCP server configuration. Free DHCP Server also includes features such as DHCPv6, DHCP failover, and support for network booting.
