DXVK (DirectX to Vulkan) is a free and open source graphics API translation layer that is designed to allow Direct3D 11 and earlier applications to be run over the Vulkan API. DXVK works by intercepting Direct3D API calls and translating them into Vulkan API calls which are then passed to the host system’s graphics drivers. This allows Direct3D applications to take advantage of the faster and more efficient Vulkan API. DXVK is particularly useful for gaming applications, as it can improve performance and reduce input lag. It can also be used in conjunction with other software, such as Wine, to run Windows games on Linux.
