Dmg2img is a command-line utility for Mac OS X and Linux that can convert Apple's compressed .dmg disk images to the standard .img disk image format. It can also convert certain .dmg files to ISO format. Dmg2img is also capable of converting non-apple disk images, such as .ccd images, but it is primarily used for .dmg files. This utility works by decompressing the .dmg file, then converting the uncompressed data to the .img format. This allows users to write the .img file directly to a CD or DVD, or mount the .img file in a virtual CD/DVD drive. This makes it ideal for creating bootable CDs and DVDs, or for creating images to be used with virtualization software.
Discontinued The program is no longer developed. The latest version, 0.70, released in November 2008, can still be downloaded from the official website.
