Diablo is a dark fantasy-themed action role-playing game developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment. The game's style of gameplay is often referred to as "hack-and-slash" or "diablo-style" and is distinguished by its fast-paced and extremely violent combat. Players take control of a single character from one of five classes (Barbarian, Demon Hunter, Monk, Witch Doctor, and Wizard) and progress through the world of Sanctuary, an ancient landmass composed of four distinct regions: the distant kingdom of Khanduras, the cursed land of Caldeum, the eastern realm of Aranoch, and the frozen wastes of the High Heavens. As they progress, players must battle hordes of monsters and collect powerful items to gain power and face the forces of the Burning Hells. The ultimate goal of Diablo is to defeat Diablo, the Lord of Terror, and his minions who seek to corrupt the world of Sanctuary.
