Description

Chess is a two-player board game played on a checkered board with 64 squares arranged in an 8×8 grid. Each player starts with 16 pieces: one king, one queen, two rooks, two knights, two bishops, and eight pawns. The objective of the game is to checkmate the opponent's king by placing it under an inescapable threat of capture. The game is played on a board composed of 64 squares of alternating colors. The pieces are divided into two matching sets, by convention called White and Black. Each set consists of 16 pieces: one king, one queen, two rooks, two knights, two bishops, and eight pawns.
