BCWipe is a comprehensive data destruction software developed by Jetico Inc. It provides permanent deletion of sensitive data stored on hard drives, flash drives, and other storage media. It is designed to be used by individuals and organizations to securely delete sensitive information before disposing of, reusing, or donating computer systems and storage media. BCWipe supports a variety of file systems, including NTFS, FAT, exFAT, and ext2/ext3/ext4. It can be used to securely delete individual files, folders, entire partitions, and entire drives. It offers a variety of wiping algorithms, including DoD 5220.22-M, Gutmann, RCMP TSSIT OPS-II, and Bruce Schneier’s algorithm. BCWipe also allows users to customize the number of passes used to securely delete data and offers a scheduling feature to automate the wiping process. It is available as a desktop app and a bootable disk image, and can also be integrated into Windows, Mac, and Linux systems.
The discontinued DBAN was last updated in June 2015 and does not support SSD (SATA secure erase). The official website is now pushing users to use Blancco Drive Eraser, a commercial disk wiping tool.
