Babylon is an online language learning platform and reference application that helps users learn new languages, improve their language skills and expand their cultural understanding. It offers a comprehensive suite of tools to help users learn and practice their language skills, including courses, flashcards, games and virtual tutors. Babylon also provides a comprehensive reference library, allowing users to look up words and phrases in multiple languages, as well as access translations and definitions. With Babylon, users can choose to learn a language either through self-study or with the help of a professional tutor. It also provides users with personalized feedback, progress tracking and real-time guidance to help improve their language skills.
It does the job, indexes .BGL files like a boss and can add more sources (Wikipedia) or dictionaries.

It is WEB BASED, so it is *not* an offline translator.
Discontinued The project seems to be no longer updated. Last version, 3.0.6, released in January 2015, but can still be downloaded from SourceForge.
Discontinued This project has been replaced by https://launchpad.net/lingo-dictionary. Lingo is fully backward compatible and will be available in Luna.
Google is an online web service, babylon is a desktop tool that offers offline word translation.
