Description

Angband is a roguelike dungeon-crawling computer game, originally released in 1990 by designer and programmer Andrew A. A. Gill. It is based on the fantasy world of J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth, but its story and characters are original. Angband is a single-player game, in which the player creates a character and then attempts to reach the bottom of the procedurally-generated dungeon known as Morgoth's fortress, Angband. As the player progresses, they encounter monsters and collect items and gold. Combat is turn-based, and the player can use a variety of spells and weapons to defeat their enemies. The game is highly replayable; each new game is randomly generated and can be customized by the player. It also has a large modding community, with hundreds of fan-made modifications ranging from graphical updates to complete overhauls of the game.
