With Adobe InDesign, users can create content with an unparalleled level of precision, efficiency, and accuracy.
I work with designers who send me PDF files as finished products. Sometimes I just need to make a small change here or there, and rather than go through the hassle of hiring someone for 10 minutes of work, I use Scribus to edit the files. I have not used InDesign because it is too expensive and too complicated to justify the purchase at work. Scribus can do the work I need it to do. I've also used it to design my CV and a few other small projects, and I'm very happy with it.
Full functions. Good for commercial printing jobs.
Canva is a good design, but it has none of the advanced text editing features that InDesign has.
Canva is a great tool for making a simple post on social media, but it's not a competitor to industry-standard design software.
It is best used for Photoshop.
Canva is certainly not an advanced design software, but for a home user on small to medium projects it is an excellent alternative to InDesign.
2 generations ahead of InDesign and available as a permanent purchase without subscription. It converts all PDF file types into native objects and generates HTML5 and iOS apps, as well as standard PDF for printing.
Innovative features, like making PDF editable, creating HTML5, as many applications as you want, etc. And I can buy a license that I keep. At $185 for an upgrade. Plus it's fast, starts in 6 seconds.
Much better than the competition. I learned Adobe InDesign when I was in school, but now I use QuarkXPress for work.
Quark is still the most intuitive and powerful application for layout and design. InDesign is almost as good, but having used Quark since 1.1, I can say that it is still (very expensive) but the best.
Although it's only in beta, it's already proven to do everything Indesign can do. It is also much more intuitive.
Most of the essential functions of InDesign are not there.
I can't do 1/4 of what indesign can do, even the most basic things.
It does not have all the capabilities like InDesign and Adobe. InDesign is definitely a better alternative.
It simply does not offer file upload. I am looking for an online solution to edit my .indd files ...
It's cheap and very simple. It lacks some of the high-end features of InDesign, but it is very good for basic tasks like designing flyers, posters or brochures. Text handling could be better. Overall, it's a very good application for its price.
It has 95-99% of all InDesigner features, can read and write IDML-based Adobe InDesign files and is the only application that is also available for the browser without any client installation. And last but not least, you can buy it or rent it, and there is even a free version!
Discontinued Serif will not be releasing another major version of any of our "Plus" range applications. They will, however, continue to be available for the foreseeable future. https://community.serif.com/forum/other%20products/74586/affinity-is-coming-to-windows
The discontinued website does not link to the product. There is no mention of it, it appears to be discontinued.

Absolute pain in the $$$ to work with. lacks basic functionality, such as displaying the font you selected on the actual page.
