AACGain is a free, open source application designed to optimize the sound quality of Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) audio files. It is a command line utility that can be used to adjust the volume of AAC files without changing the bit rate or encoding quality. AACGain can also retrieve and store album information (e.g., artist, title, track number, etc.) from the ID3 tags from an AAC file. This information can then be used to automatically tag the file with the appropriate information. This can be useful for organizing and managing large collections of music files. Additionally, AACGain can be used to normalize the volume of AAC files so that all audio files in a collection have the same loudness. AACGain can be used for both MP3 and AAC audio files, however, it is optimized for AAC audio files.
